Các dạng bài IELTS Writing Task 1
Writing IELTS Task 1 trong IELTS Academic là phần thi đánh giả khả năng phân tích của thí sinh về các dạng biểu đồ, quy trình và bản đồ và chiếm ⅓ tổng số điểm của phần thi Writing. Phần thi yêu cầu viết một bài luận từ 150 chữ, bạn có thể dành 20/60 phút để hoàn thành task 1. Bài viết chỉ dừng ở mức độ phân tích và thí sinh không cần phải đưa ra bất kỳ nhận xét hay đánh giá nào.
Writing task 1 sẽ có 5 dạng đề chính:
Line Graph – Dạng biểu đồ đường
Bên trong đó, các điểm thể hiện số liệu sẽ được nối thành các đường khác nhau và chỉ ra một xu hướng nào đó. Đối với dạng này thì sẽ thường có yếu tố thời gian đi kèm.
Đề bài: The line graph and table show the average monthly temperatures and annual hours of sunshine in three major cities.

Trả lời: The given line graph describes the averaged temperatures each month for a non-defined year in London, New York and Sydney while the table gives the total hours of sunshine.
Overall, New York is hotter than London in the summer months, while the reverse is true in the winter. Sydney, being a Southern hemisphere city, has the opposite pattern of temperature fluctuations. New York has notably the widest range of temperature and the most hours of sunshine.
In January, New York is definitely the coldest with only 5 degrees celsius, compared to nearly 10 in London. Both cities then steadily climb to their peaks in July with 30 and 25 degrees respectively. As the year draws to a close they return to about the same temperatures they had in January. In contrast, Sydney, located south of the equator, starts the year over 25 degrees centigrade and dips to a low of 15 in July before returning to January like temperatures in December.
The table’s data portrays how both New York and Sydney have over double the sunshine hours than London with around 2500 for the former pair and only 1158 for the latter city.
Bar Chart – Dạng biểu đồ cột
Đây là dạng biểu đồ mà số liệu sẽ được thể hiện bằng các cột đơn, cột đôi hoặc cột chồng và có thể là cột đứng hoặc cột ngang nhưng cách trình bày số liệu sẽ không có nhiều sự khác biệt giữa các loại.

Trả lời: The Given bar chart portrays the percentage of people in five age groups regarding how much they use a Social Network, write microblogs, or listen to the Radio.
Overall, Radio is most popular for the four groups over 18, with Social Networking being strongly partaken by under 29’s and a low level of Microblogging for all age groups.
Younger people definitely prefer Social Networking with 80% of under 29-year-olds using this, as age rises far fewer people use this with only a quarter of over 65’s using it. Only two in five of 10 to 17-year-olds listen to radio whereas over 80 percent of the other 4 groups use it. Finally, Microblogging, with sites such as Twitter & Instagram, are used by no more than 25% of people in any age group with 18-29’s being the highest and over 65’s the lowest with 10%.
Pie Chart – Dạng biểu đồ tròn
Dạng biểu đồ này thường được chia thành các phần trong một hình tròn và từng phần thể hiện số liệu (dưới dạng phần trăm: %). Mỗi phần sẽ được thể hiện bằng màu sắc khác nhau. Tên và màu sắc từng phần sẽ được liệt kê trong phần chú thích ở bên cạnh hoặc bên dưới biểu đồ. Thí sinh cũng có thể phải giải quyết 2 đến 3 biểu đồ tròn để đưa ra sự thay đổi số liệu qua từng thời kỳ.

The pie contains salmon, peas, sauce and potatoes, and there are ten stages in its manufacture, from delivery to dispatch. One of the ingredients, potato, goes through its own six-stage preparation process before it can be added to the pie.
Potatoes are the first ingredient to be prepared on the production line. They are delivered to the factory up to a month before the process begins, and they must be cleaned, peeled and sliced. Potato peelings are thrown away, and the sliced potatoes are boiled, then chilled and stored.
When fresh salmon arrives at the factory, lemon juice and salt are added, and the fish is cooked in a steam oven within 12 hours of delivery. Next, factory workers remove and dispose of the skin and bones, and the fish is inspected. Following inspection, pre-prepared peas, sauce and potatoes are added. The resulting fish pies are wrapped, frozen and then stored or dispatched.
Table – Dạng bảng số liệu
Khác với các dạng biểu đồ được thể hiện bằng hình ảnh sẽ dễ nhìn thấy xu hướng tăng/ giảm thì bảng số liệu có ưu thế riêng biệt của nó: đó chính là các thông tin, số liệu được liệt kê rất rõ ràng, chi tiết. Tuy nhiên, việc không được thể hiện bằng hình ảnh bắt buộc thí sinh phải chọn lọc số liệu để tìm ra xu hướng tăng/ giảm.

It is noticeable that three main modifications were made to the hospital’s vehicle access. These involved the building of a new bus station, new roundabouts and new parking facilities.
Looking at the changes in more detail, we can see that in 2007 there were three bus stops on either side of Hospital Road. These were no longer present in 2010, and instead we see the addition of a bus station on the west side of Hospital Road. This bus station is accessed via two new roundabouts; the first roundabout is at the intersection of City Road and Hospital Road, while the second is at the other end of Hospital Road, at the junction with the hospital ring road.
The two maps also show that changes were made to public and staff parking areas. In 2007, staff and visitors used the same car park, which was situated to the east of Hospital Road and accessed via the ring road. However, by 2010 this original car park had become a designated area for staff parking only. A new car park, located on the east side of the ring road, provided parking for members of the public.

Dạng đề này sẽ yêu cầu thí sinh mô tả về những thay đổi trong hình vẽ, thường là một địa điểm cụ thể (một ngôi làng hoặc khu dân cư,…). Những thay đổi này sẽ biểu thị qua các mốc thời gian khác nhau. Thông thường chỉ tối đa 3 giai đoạn.

Cách viết Writing Task 1 Introduction – Mở bài chuẩn
Thí sinh nên bắt đầu luyện viết đoạn mở bài bằng cách nêu lại những thông tin đã được đưa ra trong phần đề bài, hội đủ các yếu tố: tên biểu đồ (biểu đồ đang thể hiện nội dung gì), các mốc thời gian, đơn vị đo lường số liệu (nếu cần thiết), số liệu của đối tượng nằm trong khoảng nào? Chỉ cần viết 1-2 câu là đủ.

Cách viết IELTS Writing Task 1 Overview – Mô tả chung đúng cách
Overview là sự tóm tắt ngắn gọn số liệu/ thông tin trong bảng và biểu đồ và chỉ ra xu hướng chung của biểu đồ đó. Vì thế, cách viết Writing Task 1 phần overview là chỉ nên viết ngắn, khoảng 2-3 câu.
Đối với các dạng bài mà có nhiều số liệu thì không thể chỉ ra được ngay xu hướng chung. Thí sinh có thể tìm ra điểm thấp nhất hoặc cao nhất để nêu trong mô tả chung. Bên cạnh đó trong một số dạng biểu đồ số liệu, học viên có thể chọn ra mốc thời gian mà số liệu thay đổi nhiều nhất để chỉ ra xu hướng tăng/ giảm trước và sau mốc thời gian đó.
