1. Tóm tắt lý thuyết câu điều kiện lớp 8
1.1. Định nghĩa câu điều kiện
Câu điều kiện trong tiếng Anh là cách diễn đạt một giả định hoặc điều kiện và kết quả tương ứng nếu điều kiện đó xảy ra. Câu điều kiện thường bao gồm hai phần chính: mệnh đề điều kiện (if clause) và mệnh đề kết quả (main clause).
Ví dụ:
- If she spoke Spanish, she could communicate with the locals. (Nếu cô ấy nói tiếng Tây Ban Nha, cô ấy có thể giao tiếp với người dân địa phương.)
- If I had taken the earlier flight, I would have arrived on time. (Nếu tôi đã chọn chuyến bay sớm hơn, tôi đã đến đúng giờ.)
1.2. Công thức câu điều kiện lớp 8 cần nhớ
Trong Tiếng Anh có 4 loại câu điều kiện cơ bản và công thức của chúng như sau:
Câu điều kiện loại 0
Câu điều kiện loại 0 dùng để diễn tả một chân lý hoặc sự thật luôn đúng.
If + S + V(hiện tại đơn), S + V(hiện tại đơn)Ví dụ:
- If it rains, the ground gets wet. (Nếu mưa, đất trở nên ẩm ướt.)
- If you mix blue and yellow, you get green. (Nếu bạn trộn màu xanh lá cây và màu vàng, bạn sẽ có màu xanh.)
Câu điều kiện loại 1
Câu điều kiện loại 1 dùng để diễn tả một sự việc nào đó có khả năng sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai.
If + S + V(thì hiện tại đơn), S + will/can/may/might + V(inf)Ví dụ:
- If it rains, we will stay at home. (Nếu mưa, chúng tôi sẽ ở nhà.)
- If you study hard, you will pass the exam. (Nếu bạn học chăm chỉ, bạn sẽ đỗ kỳ thi.)
Câu điều kiện loại 2
Câu điều kiện loại 2 dùng để diễn tả một giả định không có thật ở hiện tại.
If + S + V(thì quá khứ đơn), S + would/could + V(inf)Ví dụ:
- If I had more time, I would visit you. (Nếu tôi có thêm thời gian, tôi sẽ đến thăm bạn.)
- If I had a car, I would drive to work. (Nếu tôi có một chiếc xe, tôi sẽ lái xe đi làm.)
Câu điều kiện loại 3
Câu điều kiện loại 3 dùng để diễn tả một giả thuyết trái ngược với những gì đã xảy ra trong quá khứ hoặc nói lên nỗi tiếc nuối về một sự việc đã/đã không xảy ra trong quá khứ.
If + S + V(thì quá khứ hoàn thành). S + would/could have + V3/VedVí dụ:
- If she had known, she would have come to the party. (Nếu cô ấy biết, cô ấy đã đến bữa tiệc.)
- If they had known about the traffic, they wouldn’t have been late. (Nếu họ biết về tình trạng giao thông, họ sẽ không bị muộn.)
2. Mẹo ghi nhớ các cấu trúc câu điều kiện nhanh chóng
Một mẹo để nhớ nhanh công thức câu điều kiện là Lùi thì. Hãy nhìn lại công thức của 3 loại câu điều kiện để thấy sự lùi thì giữa chúng.
Câu điều kiện loại 1: If + S + V (thì hiện tại đơn), S + will + V(inf)
Câu điều kiện loại 2: If + S + V (thì quá khứ đơn), S + would/could + V(inf)
Câu điều kiện loại 3: If + S + V(quá khứ hoàn thành), S + would/could + have + V3/V-ed
Từ các công thức trên chúng ta có thể tổng kết quy luật lùi thì như sau:
Mệnh đề If: thì hiện tại đơn → thì quá khứ đơn → thì quá khứ hoàn thành
Mệnh đề chính: will → would → would have
Như vậy bạn chỉ cần nhớ mỗi công thức của câu điều kiện loại 1, xong đó cứ lùi thì là sẽ có ngay công thức câu điều kiện loại 2 và 3.
3. Lưu ý khi làm bài tập câu điều kiện lớp 8
Dưới đây là một số lưu ý quan trọng về câu điều kiện để bạn có thể hoàn thành bài tập câu điều kiện lớp 8 chính xác nhất.
Lưu ý 1: Trong câu điều kiện có mệnh đề If ở dạng phủ định, có thể thay thế If not bằng Unless.
Ví dụ:
- If you don’t apologize, I won’t forgive you.
= Unless you apologize, I won’t forgive you. (Nếu bạn không xin lỗi, tôi sẽ không tha thứ cho bạn.)
Lưu ý 2: Với câu điều kiện loại 2, có thể dùng cả Was và Were với chủ ngữ số ít và số nhiều.
Ví dụ:
- If I were/was rich, I would travel around the world. (Nếu tôi giàu, tôi sẽ đi du lịch quanh thế giới.)
- If she were/was here, she would help us with the project. (Nếu cô ấy ở đây, cô ấy sẽ giúp chúng tôi với dự án.)
Lưu ý 3: Câu điều kiện loại 2 và loại 3 có thể được sử dụng trong cấu trúc câu điều ước với Wish hoặc cấu trúc Would rather để diễn tả sự tiếc nuối về một sự việc nào đó.
Ví dụ:
- If they had invested in that company, they would have made a lot of money. (Nếu họ đã đầu tư vào công ty đó, họ đã kiếm được nhiều tiền.)
→ They wish they had invested in that company. (Họ ước là họ đã đầu tư vào công ty ấy.)
→ They would rather they had invested in that company. (Giá như họ đã đầu tư vào công ty ấy.)
