Feature 3: Discussion
Crafting a Winning Response
To excel in Part 2, you need a well-structured response. Take a look at this sample response to the topic card “Describe a time when you gave someone advice”:
“When I was in secondary school, my best friend was struggling with her grades, and she definitely needed some advice. She was on the verge of being kicked off the basketball team and jeopardizing her chances of getting into college.
Knowing that she had the ability to excel academically, I urged her to take her studies more seriously. I advised her to dedicate more time to homework and reduce her TV and video game consumption. To my delight, she took my advice to heart. As a result, she not only retained her spot on the basketball team but also got into college. She continued to maintain good study habits throughout her college years. I’m incredibly proud that my advice made a positive impact on her life.”
Remember, a well-prepared response is the key to success. Take advantage of the minute you have to plan your response. Focus on Feature 3, as it requires more detailed analysis. Aim to come up with at least two main points for discussion during your preparation time. Jot down a few keywords to help you remember your planned response.
